This was something I used to prioritize, and then de-prioritized for a period of time. If I can give you one piece of advice, don't make that mistake. Allocate a certain amount of time each week or month towards building, maintaining, and nurturing your network. Do that, consistently. Over time, you'll see the compounding impact of those efforts.

I would advise you to play around with different rate structures and figure out what works for you with different clients. I have some clients where I charge them a flat monthly fee. I have others where I charge them an hourly rate. Both have their benefits and drawbacks.

Just like its critical to allocate time and effort towards building your network for the purposes of BD, I would also advise you to allocate time and effort towards marketing. For me, that means content creation and audience development. Identify 1-2 tactics and lean hard on them. Just make sure the economics make sense for you.
