Find someone that is going to be fiercely supportive and take your hand into a space you didn't think possible.Be wary of the " here is 5 steps and just do this " business coach ,or the business coach that hasn't lived and breathed the challenge of business delivery and is based all on theoretical classroom activities or the latest book they read. My advice is pick a business coach who you feel will push you , but there is enough chemistry that you trust and respect them - this is a very unique relationship - one that is just between the two of you so not liking them is going to be an issue but equally working with someone who doesn't stretch you is stealing your money. Take your time - suss their recommends on linkedin, see who they are.

Make sure you do your research. There are so many people out their that do not tick all the boxes. You have to be aligned with your coach. They have to be able to visualise your goals and aspirations in your career and you need to have trust in someone that can help you achieve this.

Watch out for people who seem desperate . A great coach wants you to choose them because you feel like they can help you with that next opportunity or step. Just as coaches should also be picky - I personally won't work with a client if I feel like what they need is not what I can offer - and may refer them to someone in my world that I know that can. The world of coaching is filled with quick fix folks, when this is a relationship and it is so important that you choose someone who you can work with and get what you need from them . It also isn't a marriage so you can try one out for say 90 days and see if it is working for you - if they don't allow you to do that then be wary , as it is your money and you should feel the value .

Although a certification doesn’t make a coach a good coach, what you should look for is how these courses have been embodied by the mentor coach you choose to hire. For example, I don’t always talk about my tools and techniques I talk about the results it’s helped me and my clients achieve. When you can see the mentor to own their power, message them, have a conversation and ask questions. Because you need to be with someone who not only respects themselves but also respects you too in your own infinite power. I remember one time, I had a vrlery interesting call where a coach was able to pin point my solutions and offered me a powerful package. It was the worst decision ever. She spoke about herself for almost 3 hours every session. The most effective way to know is how this coach connects with you, are they making it about themselves or are they listening to you. Your mentor and coach shows high level of emotional intelligence which means being aware of your needs and wants without making it about themselves.
