To make it pop. Break it into S.M.A.R.T goals. It was acronymed SMART for a reason. It needs to pass some fundamental tests. And that makes it more potent. Specific and clear such that a 6 year old can get it. Measurable & Realistic numbers/target makes sure there's something to signify when you cross the mark. Time constraints ensure you and/or your team don't procrastinate endlessly. Find your SMART goals make it public so you can be held accountable. Then run with it.

4 things come to mind: 1. Clarity: Clear vision of where the business will be in 10 years, 3 years, 1 year, next 90 days, then reverse engineering that starting from today. 2. Alignment: alignment in people and processes - intentionally architect this - from hiring the team that will get the business to where it wants to be to the processes (and systems) that will unleash the magic, performance of the business. When this happens, execution can happen. 3. Accountability: clear priorities (at every level and), clear and measurable, KPIs, metrics, that are communicated daily through meeting rhythms. 4. Leadership & culture: leadership development and culture. A business' limitations are a reflection of the limitation of its leadership.

A classic mistake is to water down your target market and go wide and generic. This approach makes it hard to attract customers. Instead, you need to niche down ??. Focus on a very specific, small niche, especially when starting, and aim to become a top expert. For example, I'm a Power BI professional who could help any business, but I have been focusing on helping Sales Teams track targets and calculate commissions using daily, automatically refreshed Power BI reports. Building expertise in this niche has helped me attract and better serve clients. Both are crucial for growth, especially when starting out.
