Too many translators (I revise a lot of them) do not use their brains. They take the automatic translation as is, and barely edit it in order to create a meaningful text, written in real language. They also don't make the effort to understand what they translate. So, a good translator, who uses their intelligence and culture to really process meanning, and write idiomatically and concisely will never be replaced by a machine.

A large number of people may not agree, more so because of rapid technological advancements, but I firmly believe that machine translation and automation is not going to replace the human brain, not at least in a foreseeable future. It is good to embrace technology, but not leave everything to it as translation is more a work of art and gentle touches than something a machine could do. Automation is neither a threat nor a replacement, but an assistant that should be used for the ease of work.
