I think it’s important to be connected within various industries to leverage your sourcing capabilities. For instance, during the pandemic, organizations were looking for commodities within industries that they normally don’t contract or have relationships with. Therefore, as a suggestion, when you attend trade shows/conferences, attend events that you can build relationships within other industries. This will broaden your ability to source in a non traditional fashion.

Don’t be afraid to add failures that shaped you into a better negotiator or relationship builder. I personally added an experience where I took the relationship that I thought built very strong and trusted in the other person too much. Resulted in me being screwed over in negotiation.
