This gives you two advantages: First, you will be cognitively and emotionally challenged similarly to the actual performance. Speaking in front of an audience engages a huge amount of mental and emotional bandwidth, whereas when you're in the comfort of a quiet room and you're seated at a desk and you're mentally reciting - you are not under any pressure at all. When practicing you need to get performance elements and anything else you can into your subconscious. DON'T ask for feedback right after your presentation. Specifically, do not ask the usual, generic question as you sit down "How did I do?" Anyone who cares about you will see that you are a bundle of adrenaline and the answer will inevitably be "great - well done" - no matter how things actually went. The danger is that someone might provide unconstructive feedback - and your brain WILL lock onto that as a mini-trauma. That could well set you back rather than give you something useful for your next experience.
