It’s imperative to remember feedback is a gift, and when presented correctly, is given to change behavior. The person presenting the feedback has the responsibility of identifying the right behavior to change and then addressing it in a way that preserves dignity and promotes growth. The receiver has the responsibility of evaluating the feedback given by being receptive to the message, assessing its value, appreciating the context in which it’s given, and also recognizing the intent. If a receiver is not open to feedback, this exchange cannot take place and no behavior will be changed.

You may not always get the feedback you need to grow. It is incumbent upon you to ask for what you need. Also, seek out individuals that excel in the areas you want to grow. Accepting feedback from people who can't or won't do what you can do is pointless. In those cases, those are opinions versus feedback grounded in experience, extensive practice, and mastery.
