In case of the regular, be specific to the last discussion, actionable that were agreed upon and status as on date. 6. Don't shy of adding new findings which would fetch better results, despite not being in previous discussions. 7. Showing respect, irrespective of everything, comes easily if you are there with body, mind and soul.

Rehearsing allows you to become intimately familiar with the information you'll be presenting. The more you practice, the more comfortable and natural you'll feel delivering the content. Start with "May I" in between if you have urge strong enough to speak. 3. Head high (visibly and within). 4. Look into eyes and nod genuinely if you buy the points. 5. Enter straight, remove odd eyebrows, sleeves down, pen, notepad and value that you know you bring all the time. 6. Sit straight.

Your gestures and gesticulations are very important. You can record yourself presenting and see what exactly your audience will see when you present. From there you can work on your gait, posture, hand and body movements. Also, be careful not to overdo it. Just be natural and expressive.

As a presentation specialist, I suggest avoiding open questions. Create a presentation in which your interlocutor must choose between your sketched paths. Replace a generic ‘And now what can we do?’ with a pointed ‘And now we choose between solution A or solution B...’ In a nutshell, turn questions into feedback.

I will suggest that before your presentation, think of all the likely questions that could come out of your presentation or that your boss could ask you. Then, try to answer those questions or research about them to get better responses. By doing so, you are more prepared to respond to any question that comes up.

One thing you have to consider is how you get the opportunity to present to the boss. If you were invited then there is a preset expectation that you have something to contribute, so the is in a sense less pressure (depends on the intentions of the boss) But if you requested the time, that changes the dynamic, in this case you may get penalised for wasting time. In all cases it is up to you to be impressive, but this is a useful thing to keep in the back of your mind.

Your presentation should be evidence based. Asides from being knowledgeable about the discussion, you should be able to present back up documents or materials to support your documents and which your boss can refer to. Examples includes the laws/policies guiding certain decisions, pros and cons and alternatives.

Know your audience. What approach do they respond to the most? Whether that's through big picture vs. nitty gritty details, bottom line number or clear breakdown, it depends on how you know your boss' brain operates.
