When it comes to hiring decisions, I have always asked myself 2 questions: 1) Does the candidate have the same skills, background and experience as the team have? If 'Yes' - Definitely 'No hire'. A team of "clones" kills creativity. 2) Will the team immediately embrace and like the candidate? The emphasis here lies on 'immediately'; of course the people in the team need to get on with each other but a slight *positive* tension and mutual curiosity of each other can be very productive.

During COVID I did a virtual tour of all the offices of the company that I led because I couldn't travel to be there in person. This was very much appreciated and relationships were built.
