To start optimizing, you need to grasp the basics of CPU scheduling. The scheduler, part of the operating system, prioritizes tasks based on various algorithms. Common algorithms include First-Come, First-Served (FCFS), Shortest Job First (SJF), and Round Robin (RR). FCFS is straightforward but can lead to inefficient CPU utilization. SJF prioritizes tasks with the shortest duration, which can improve performance but may cause longer tasks to wait indefinitely. RR allocates CPU time in fixed time slots, giving each process a turn, which ensures fairness but can increase overhead.

There are multiple methodologies as to how CPU scheduling directly impacts system performance and there is no fixed formula for it. However, based on application workload(IO intensive, compute intensive, network or graphics based traffic)and overall compute architecture, we can estimate most efficient scheduling algorithm and devise mechanism to dynamically switch as per the application payload/processing requirements
