I recently transitioned from a role that was primarily remote; while this came with some perks, I often found myself feeling disengaged from the broader group. To mitigate the latter, I had to become intentional about employing ways to make my interactions more human. Furthermore, it's very easy for the remote worker's interactions to become transactional but this can be counterproductive, impeding the benefits of networking. Some helpful methods that I've used include facilitating periodic touch-base meetings, hosting in-person social/team building events, and conducting in-person training/collaboration.

After I started working remotely 100% of the time I setup a Happy Hour on Zoom where I could meet with my coworkers and we could talk about whatever came up. It was at the end of the day and was optional but it helped us get through the isolation of Covid years. It may take a while to get others to join, but once they do and see the value they will appreciate it.

This way forward it will only be a matter of time becoming a go-to person for technology matters.
