All in all, I think teamwork and communication skills matter in navigating your career in GIS. You could not derived the analysis solely from your maps, you need others, especially people from different backgrounds to get other perception and to make use of your analysis into something else, for example policy or decision making. How you could collaborate with others that have different backgrounds and speak your opinion into something that they could understand are also important.
