MANAGING change is no longer good enough. The new goal is LEADING change. Getting comfortable with the uncomfortable, especially in times of uncertainty should be seen as a muscle you flex and strengthen. Focusing on developing the power skill of #Adaptability is critical today. This includes developing mental flexibility, gaining perspectives from multiple sources, and openly discussing mistakes with others as the solutions are always found in the people around you. Build connections with others to support the uncertain times, and to encourage diversity of thought and experimentation. Stay curious, feed your passions so that you have the energy to get through the tough times and schedule time to cope with stress before you burnout.

All my life I have been overweight, in spite of the regular trekking and swimming activities I pursued. Resisted any change to my diet. But two years ago, I accepted that my diet needed a change and Implemented it. Not only did I get results in my body but my mind also became free of a few issues of obsession. Now I realize that it was more of a mental issue than a physical one. So embracing change can be liberating

One exercise I enjoy with my team is the SWOT analysis, as it allows us to identify individual and collective strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This interaction helps us spot risks early and navigate them effectively to our advantage. After setting short- and long-term goals, we discuss potential pitfalls and apply caution as we move towards achieving these goals. By proactively addressing what could go wrong, we prepare ourselves to handle unexpected situations. Adopting a fluid risk management approach in business is crucial. It helps us remain resilient when facing challenges and enables us to pivot quickly, maintaining stability and uncovering growth opportunities even in turbulent times.

I observe that often the difficult part is to open up and be authentic with the trusted people in your network when going through challenging times. Personally, it is easier said than done but when I do become vulnerable... magic happens. People in your network often are keen to contribute.

Continuous learning is imperative. In order to stay in the loop, keep up with the trends, and develop yourself. We must never stop learning.

Here are a few tips on strategic planning: Start your strategy by focusing on your competitive advantage. This means you will figure out how to apply your talents and resources to solve a need that you care about or something you find rewarding. Choose to get involved in an industry that you are interested in or already passionate about. If you are just starting out, this is the first step. You get this on a vision board, in a video or a written draft before writing further details.

Jeff Bezos talks about being obsessive about the customer. "We're not competitor obsessed, we're customer obsessed. We start with what the customer needs and we work backwards." So many people struggle with being obsessed with their competition instead. I know CEOs that make this mistake because they compete with their peers for bragging rights. Seeking validation in other ways causes people to lose track. It's better for business to only obsess about how to please your customers. If you keep this focus, you'll remove a lot of unnecessary stress. More energy and creatively will follow. Keeping things as simple as possible will help you to make better decisions overall and maintain balance.

Get present stick to your morning routine. It's most important through difficult times that you take time for yourself, exercise, meditation, etc... You know what it takes! As Steven Covey once said "sharpen the saw"

Trust is the #1 during times of change and uncertainty. It is the foundation that holds relationships, teams, and organizations together through thick and thin. As a leader, maintaining that trust can make or break your success. This is true, no matter the size of the organization. There must be a connection between leadership and employees. At the core, that relationship is established — and destroyed — based on the level of trust. It is necessary to ensure cooperation and commitment to the mission at hand. How do we warrant trust? Encourage open communication, share information, be authentic, and have high integrity. The way we make and manage commitments and reliability is at the core of building and rebuilding trust.

First off, being an Entrepreneur is all about navigating in uncertain times! That's the nature of the beast. Change, uncertainty, and risk are the names of this game and it's up to the #entrepreneur to tame the beast. Most people treat entrepreneurship as if it's what people see on TV. It's not, not even reality TV. Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint at heart. #ItGetsRugged. Something I coach my clients on all... the... time... "You must be strong in your mind."
