Some questions I always ask myself.. Does it fill a gap in my process or does it do the same as what I already have just in a different way? What is the UI like? Will my consumers ‘get’ the finished product? Can it integrate into my software?

Most of the initiatives fail to use the new technology because of lack of prior planning in assessing the actual needs. Needs analysis is very much crucial before going for any new technology. First need to understand the business needs and try to building the automation or technical in that direction. We need to understand which area of the business really requires automation. For example, is it tracking of productivity of the resources, is to prepare better reporting mechanism and dashboards etc.

A really important factor to put in consideration is if a new software is really needed. To introduce a new technology in a project always is a complex solution that requires a lot of work, time and money. Most solutions are not 100% compatible with any company, workaround’s and adaptations are needed. I think that important questions are: does the current solution work? If it only partially works, is it possible to only develop a new feature to do what is needed? Is the new solution a final solution? Is the effort of planning, implementing and paying worth it? If the final answer is to adopt a new technology, the time spent searching and planning is essential and should be used wisely, as usually there is not enough time to do it.
