In my work experience, I witnessed traders wanting to engage in a put sale transaction without an underlying asset. This was considered a speculative action and was not aligned with our company's risk appetite. Since the subject was quite sophisticated, it was challenging to clearly convey the issue to top management. After several meetings, we reached a compromise to cancel the transactions. This showcased that the risk appetite of traders can differ from that of top management, and economic approaches, along with their interpretations of market applications, should be monitored diligently.
