It’s actually in your bosses best interest to have high performing employees delivering at their best. I’m going to assume that the boss is someone who cares about the employee and the company they both work for. Ensure the feedback is clear and understood and then let it sink in and be honest to yourself if the feedback is valid and helpful.

Constructive criticism is always a welcome development because it enhances professional improvement and problems solving abilities. It spurs idea generation, innovative strategies and value creation ( solution). Continuous improvement is a reoccurring strategy in manufacturing process and improving your process using lean strategies makes you a better problem solver.

It’s better to create your own plan rather than have a plan imposed on you. I believe if your getting a plan imposed on you it’s an active PIP(performance improvement plan) rather than an opportunity for you to make some changes that will allow you to have continued success in your role with your Company.

I’ve seen over reaction from feedback. If you’re over reacting it’s likely that the relationship between you and your boss will decline rather then improve.
