This comes from over 30 years in IT. DON'T do the following: - campaign to get others promoted - share you knowledge and methods with others - there is no 'Team' in IT and at the end of the day you are profitable or not profitable - you are expendable - the longer you stay with a company the increase be being 'unemployed' due to 'restructuring' becomes a reality - you will go broke because everyone says you need a new Cert or Course - take each and every course possible if the company pays for it so you have something to fall back on - no one in IT sadly is looking out for you UNLESS you work for a RARE and quality company and really see the efforts of their employees - profits work from the top to the bottom and any bonus is political
