So the boss is the boss because: He has been there the longest? He is the owners relative? Nobody else wanted the job? Inclusivity? It does not matter, don’t look for clarification , it won’t do any good.

Being proactive in construction is key to project, company and your personal success. Managing your supervisors is equally important to them managing you! Some things to consider before taking initiative: 1. Read the contracts/scope with subs you are managing in the field 2. Understand the schedule and sequence of works 3. Run war room meetings every morning 4. Take control of the document status with project engineers: submittals, RFIs… check for blockers. 5. Ensure you understand material procurement logs (current status, ROJ) 6. Develop trackers and 6 week look-ahead schedule 7. Speak to subs to remove obstacles they have 8. Report issues and progress to management and give them tasks to complete for you.
