No amount of internal analysis will give you the kind of returns that the direct engagement with the community will give you. The whole purpose of the analysis is the data is to see how well the community is doing and what the community should do to improve. When you engage the community in the analysis of the numbers, two things will happen - one is that you will be able to dissect the data and bring insights you might never have thought of, more importantly the community will start internalizing the data, the understanding from the data and the factors affecting the data and ultimately the actions required to improve. So your task as a community organizer is made easier because the community has internalized the need to change.

An open-source community can be complex if there is something to rally around. SMART Innovation is one way to create community momentum. Get people excited about innovation and looking forward to new ways of doing things. For example, there is growing community support for decoupled Drupal using next.js. and next-drupal.org. It's exciting, it's new, and it opens doors to people who want to be a part of it. The community will lose interest over time if the innovation and technology stay the same but are just re-rolled into something "new", **again**.
