As a recruiter, we need to do a lot of online conversations in 1:1 or larger group settings. The best tips that I can give is: 1. As it is rightly said face is the index of our emotions. Hence facial expression can interfere in our communication is multiple ways, given that facial expressions can easily be misunderstood/misinterpreted. Do not try to be overly expressive it looks animated. Be calm and have a balance in use of your eyes, smile , eye brows.

I can't agree more with optimal use of hands and gestures and also the right amount of pacing through. Walking to-and-fro too much with heightened use of hands makes you look under-confident and eventually, people lose interest in the content. Take optimal pauses while you walk. For controlling hand movements hold a virtual white-board marker-helps make it look more professional. A controlled environment is the key to success

If you want to make the audience feel connected, keep your body language open. For example, keeping your hands folded or in your pant pockets makes you distant from your listeners. Make some relevant hand gestures as and when needed.

Don't kiss up. As much as people love to feel powerful they also look down on those that lift them too high. Speak with respect, curiosity, and as an equal.
