I have experienced challenging times as a creative strategist in the past but I use what I call the “Do It Regardless” approach. I find clients have grandiose or unrealistic goals to begin with. When they find me they have already failed or misunderstood in the marketplace. Remember you have to walk before you can run. Reset first by understanding the platform ecosystem you are marketing to, find whats not being done, redefine your target market, then craft a message that aligns with your strategy goals & your customers will respond to.

I'm overambitious and have struggled with overpromising to clients, bosses, and even myself. Being honest about your abilities makes growth a lot smoother. It's far easier to take a step in the right direction than to brace yourself for a catapult launch. By setting realistic goals, you can build confidence and resilience one manageable milestone at a time, ultimately finding the progress you've been aiming for.

If you are the smartest person in the room you are in the wrong room. Your current network leads you to this point. It's time to seek a network of people who are on the level you are trying to reach. What I have learned is you have to pay for those masterminds. You don't get support or coaching from Chris Do or Hormozi attending meetups. I paid $2,000 for coaching and in 30 days I got a $50k contract using what he taught me. Those highly paid-creatives have very expensive coaches that show them how to reach those goals. You paid ti get that degree so pay for coaching to reach your goals.

Identifying and seeking support outside of the organization while facing professional challenge is key to have a 360 perspective and restart from a clean slate.

I cannot emphasise enough how important having a strong support network can be. Creativity is not for everybody, and not everyone has the same appetite for creative ideas. Hence, it is common to have your creative strategies rejected. Obviously no one likes getting rejected, especially when you have put in a lot of effort into something that you’re passionate about. Therefore, the emotions will be strong initially. This is where you need your emotional support to let you vent, which is extremely therapeutic. They merely need to listen. Once you’ve released enough steam, you can then move on to your next action - the reflection.

Something that has helped me when facing challenges in my latest years, is to keep in mind that for most people, there is nothing such as a perfect job. Everything we do has its caveats and things that are not that nice. Once I understood that, I gained a whole lot of skills in order to face future problems at my workplace. The concept of failure itself deserves a revision. Failure can only exist if we compare it to objective X. And if objective X is poorly set, failure is just the standard outcome of every action we may take. I have learnt at my expenses to set very precise long term goals and allow myself the flexibility to change direction and path to reach that objective. There is no failure, just opportunities to reassess and move on towards the same long term objective. Failure sits in the incapacity to change our mind and our strategy to achieve ultimate goals. A flexible, resilient mindset, open to change, drive satisfaction, growth and learning. A fixed short term thinking leads to frustration, and ultimately, failure (as we intend it here)

Always, remember to punch above your limits, keep on extending the boundaries of your potential to maximum limits. Make honest attempts for self actualization, followed with introspection to improve upon oneself. Creative strategies is a constant pursuit is not one stop destination.

A change of environment for a short period is a great way to deal with this too. Engaging in an extracurricular activity will inspire your creative prowess.

With a growth mindset, there is no failure, only lessons. Once you realize this and begin implementing consistent pivots, you have already won. It’s only a matter of time for the rest of the world to catch up.
