I found it best to prepare for the next morning at the end of the work day. Oftentimes various clutter will build up on my desk over the course of the day, so at the end of the day; I will always clear my desk of bits and bobs, put notebooks away, clear away unnecessary cables, and most importantly charge batteries for headset controllers. Doing this makes it much easier to get back into the flow of development the next morning, as it minimises any distractions in the enviroment.

At the end of a week, I always create a rough sprint plan for the next - what projects I will be working on and what tasks are the priority for each. This is there as a guide for me the following week when I've been out of the development flow over the weekend, it makes it easy to jump right back in without needing to plan when the tasks aren't fresh in your head. Alongside this I will use the 25-5 pomodoro technique to help stay focused on my weekly tasks throughout the day.

The days I am most productive and least distracted are the days when I exercise before I begin work. Even just a short run to start the day helps me feel focused. Because as a developer working from home, I'm sitting down a lot. Working remotely makes it easy to stay inside but you have to make sure you stand up often and grab a glass of water. It helps tremendously. Going for a short walk is even better.
