One thing I encourage managers in my teams to do is to leave your ego or fear of sounding stupid. “I'm the lead/manager, how can I ask such a basic question, what will my team think about me?” Unless you're curious you will never learn. It's OK to feel stupid once than to remain in dark forever. Someone rightly said, “Dreams are not what you see while asleep, Dreams are what keep you awake at night”. If learning new skills is one of your dreams, you will burn the midnight oil to make it happen. I have a job/life which is extremely demanding, but I rarely go to bed without belting a new skill or improving a current one – however small it maybe.

You should always endeavor to learn from those around you. Even if you don't have the level of expertise in development that other on your team do, you can still spent time with them to build a better understanding of how their code is structured and how things interact. You'll end up with some new skills and a much clearer understanding of where the overall progress of the project sits.
