You will learn from the basics like what is Economics and its importance. You will learn the concepts from macro-economics and micro- economics which are the basics of the subject. You will also learn about building foundation on Demand and Supply and Market structure and price elasticity and other basic concepts in economics in Bachelor Degree.

Setting the right base is like laying a strong foundation. The economic theory aspect is well covered here at this level. Like as we all know how important is it to have a blend of theory & practical for a holistic career. A good grasp of concepts is important.

A key factor that has helped shape my career journey thus far was enrolling in a comprehensive undergraduate program in Economics. This program offered a holistic approach, delving into both macro and microeconomics, alongside essential mathematical finance skills and data analysis. It provided a well-rounded understanding of economic principles, enabling me to navigate complex scenarios with confidence.

Starting a career in Economics requires obtaining advanced degrees. While a bachelor's degree in Economics provides a solid foundation, pursuing a master's or Ph.D. is essential to stand out in the field. Graduate programs offer deeper training in economic theory, econometrics, and quantitative methods. Additionally, they allow for specialization in areas like financial economics, international economics, or economic development. These advanced credentials not only enhance your knowledge and skills but also make you more competitive in the job market and open doors to high-level academic and research positions.

Dont stop at the base level. Do deep into macro and micro economics, understand the trend across geographies and take advanced degrees too which could then open many doors for potential big opportunities.

Agreed. However, don't just get any advanced degree. Discern which school is the best fit for you. For example, I chose Cornell University for my second master's, concentrating in Development Economics and Economic Policy. This was a good fit for me because my first master's is in Public Management from the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affiars, Indiana University Bloomington. At Cornell, I was also able to study Educational Development as it relates to Economic Development and Economic Policy in Latin America. This relates to my experience as a professor in Mexico, where I re-engineered a technological university's business processes, focusing on student economic mobility. Altogether, my school choice strengthens my résumé.

Once you complete your Bachelors in Economics you will have to go for Masters in economics there are opportunities like, MA in Economics, MA in applied economics, MSc in economics and other masters courses which are available online even in International schools. Other than masters Schools like Harvard & Stanford University do provide online courses for free and pay for the certificate that will give a wider exposure in the subject. And you can also advance your learning by doing Diplomas in various disciplines in economics and gain exposure. Make sure you learn and boost your academics for a better Job opportunities.

Gaining practical experience through internships is crucial for launching a career in Economics. Seek opportunities that align with your interests and career goals, whether in government agencies, research institutions, financial firms, or non-profit organizations. These internships provide hands-on experience in applying economic principles to real-world issues, honing analytical skills, and building professional networks. Additionally, internships offer valuable insights into different sectors of the economy and help you explore potential career paths within Economics.

Internships and hands on experience is very important. Do your Internships in government agencies and offices and learn how things work there and assist your senior economists. Work in financial institutions and plan policies. Doing internships is the way to gain experience and you will get into the real world after your education because there is a lot to learn after your masters. Internships will definitely boost your confidence and have weightage in your resume before starting your career fully fledged do internships. By doing internships you will also understand where you belong and your interests.

My career path was significantly shaped by four relevant internships during my academic journey. These experiences provided invaluable real-world exposure, allowing me to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations. With internships in banking, insurance, and corporate sectors, focusing on accountancy, data analysis, compliance, and FP&A, I gained diverse insights across various realms, honing my skills for the more dynamic field of economics.

When you are in your academics you learn everything theoretically when you are in your professional work set up you get to learn a lot of new things so always learn.Stay updated on the latest trend and market structure and market interest.And learn from your mistakes and reflect on your decisions.Learn how your competitors are working and stay updated on their business venture. There are plenty of courses that are available online and offline apart from your core education also learn data analysis, data entry and software tools that will help you grow and learn something extra. Data is a main part of economics with which you analyse and make policies according to data. And also learn statistics do complete your short term courses in statistics which will work as a gold for you. Always learn and learn and learn. Enhance your knowledge and ability and do gain something extra from the crowd.

Another important thing to consider is that there are a lot of micro and macro economics theories. Master the mainstream theories and then be also curious to explore more theories!
