While one is sitting for an interview there are three paramount things, One it shouldn't be only transactional - Which means the interview should feel like a conversation rather Q&A Two - Give prompts Three - Backup with real-life instances So while you are meeting someone & you are fully prepared about the organization, the mantra is to listen carefully & start answering as if you are telling a story of your life, how invested you were in the role, your voice, your body language should talk about that, the interviewer should live your story with their eyes And last but not least Back up all your discussion with numbers, data & the impact that you have created & how all this experience will help you in your new role & organization

(I've often asked candidates for BD: "I noticed you were CEO of [blank], but did you actually do deals?" "Yes, definitely." "So you drove the deal and signed if?" "Yes." "What's an indemnity?" "[stunned silence]" - Relax and have fun. - Be thankful for people's time. - Write thank you notes. I know, I hate those too. Most people don't care, but 1/10 is offended. Not worth it, just write it. That night or <23 hours. - Remember that all you can do is give it 100% ??

Be honest about what skills you bring to the table. While a job description is an overview of the position itself, it is a guideline of what is expected of the role. If you do not possess the majority of the requirements within the job description you may be setting yourself up for failure. You should be focused on if you are able to do the job, and what the company is truly looking for.

Study, study, and once more—study. Before you reach the interview stage, demonstrate what you’ve learned about us and what you believe we are looking for in a potential employee. There are plenty of resources available on each company you apply to. Show us that you are genuinely interested and how your specific skills will contribute to our success.

Skills and competencies are gained through life experiences, not just through work or school. ????? Many times, we overlook things that come easy to us. ? Once your internal inventory is complete, jot down a few situations and accomplishments when you demonstrated each of the skills or competencies that the job description speaks to.

It is not necessary to adjust your resume every time but it is useful to adapt the info you are sharing during interviews as not all your experience could relevant for the role so it is good to study the position you are applying to.

For instance, if the position requires expertise in labor forecasting, discuss specific instances where you successfully predicted staffing needs and adjusted resources accordingly. There are even small things you can do within your team, like celebrate goals from team members, I did celebrate even small accomplishments from my team and it was really appreciated by all.

All positions are different, and not every role requires you to lead. However, it’s essential to ensure your voice is heard. Train your inner leader to respond to unexpected situations, practice role-playing, and develop a plan to step in when needed.

In showcasing your leadership, you have an opportunity to provide an incentive to an organization on what you will bring to the table. A great example will speak to a challenge and how you've navigated that. You will win in ending it with a seemingly positive outcome, where you did the best you could in the factors that you could control. In a strong example, you'll be able to also check off some other pending questions they may have relative to teamwork, cross-departmental collaboration, ability to work independently, through leadership, fostering a positive work environment, agility, ability to pivot etc. This could also be the make or break to landing a hire position than initially intended. From the meaning of your name, to your education and job experience, family, your hobbies, your strengths and weaknesses, your mistakes and experiences, your native place, the city/state/country you live in. Introspect, research and prepare your answers. You may seek advice from your friends or family members. Follow news- local, national and international. Follow news about your field-IT, medicine, business, sports, literature, media, whatever your field is. Also stay up-to-date with your areas of interest and hobbies. Even if sports is not your field and say, you are a football fan, you must know the latest news of it. If you are fresher, be thorough with your subjects. Your interview will revolve around them.

Every job is different, and not every role requires you to be a leader. However, it's important to make sure your voice is heard. Train yourself to handle unexpected situations, practice through role-playing, and have a plan for stepping in when necessary. You don’t need a leadership title to show leadership skills. Think about times you’ve helped others grow, supported a colleague, or been there for a friend in tough times. These are valuable qualities to highlight in an interview. Even small actions, like celebrating your team members' achievements, matter. I made a point to celebrate even the small wins in my team, and everyone really appreciated it.

Adaptability is a crucial skill in today’s ever-changing work environment. During your interview, demonstrate your ability to adjust to new situations and challenges. Share specific examples of times when you successfully navigated changes or overcame obstacles. Highlight how your flexible mindset allowed you to thrive and contribute positively to your previous roles. Show us that you can handle uncertainty with confidence and are ready to bring that same resilience and adaptability to our team.

The business world is ever-changing, and adaptability is a highly sought-after skill. Provide examples of how you've embraced change or innovation within your roles. Maybe you spearheaded the adoption of a new scheduling system or adapted to shifting market demands. I have failed too many interviews during my career, and I have seen many qualified candidates fail in interviews for several reasons, not always related to their abilities to perform the job. There is no guide or manual to make you succeed in an interview. It is the recruiter's ability to understand the dynamics of a candidate. So my advice is to - be yourself - be open to communicate - be honest - be friendly - try to engage as more confidently as you can with the interviewer - answer questions as directly as possible - even you don't have experience in a certain area share ideas about how you would do it and someone will be smart enough to realize your potential.

Understand that it is okay to take a breath or pause before answering each question. This allows for you to gather your words and thoughts so that you give the best possible answers or responses. A pause shows you are an active listener, and that you are really pondering and putting thought into each question.

This is a MUST: clear communication during an interview is essential. Ensure that you articulate your thoughts clearly and concisely. Practice active listening, and make sure to answer questions directly and thoughtfully. Use specific examples to illustrate your points, and avoid jargon or overly complex language. Show us that you can convey your ideas clearly and that you’re an excellent communicator.

I can share these from my experiences so far. Have an understanding no matter how little of the company and the role you are vying for so you can easily prepare to align your skills and experience with the company's needs, while delivering your pitch, avoid trying to impress, be a natural, in that way you will be confident, even if you make a mistake, that will only make you human. Lastly, could you describe the context within which you performed a task or faced a challenge at work, explain the actual task you had to perform and be specific about the actions you took to address the task, making sure that it reflects the results or outcomes of your actions

The world in which we live is data driven, now and forever! Metrics, goals, KPIs, targets, all of these will support an example of your capabilities but let's not forget the EQ of it all. Speak to both ends of the spectrum including failures or missed targets to show your awareness, learnings, and improvements. As a rule of thumb, I always recommend that people have at least 3 examples of metric or data related to achievements & capability.

The new model to describe your work experience is through achievements and for that you need to have clarity of how it was measure and relate to that.
