Here's how you can impress employers with your qualities as an education job candidate.

Things that I have found helpful are consistency, honesty, humility and fairness. Students respect you more when you possess these qualities. The younger generations need adults to be adults,simple as that.

I found that sharing simple things from our life makes students of all ages reflect and adapt as possible. And, positive encouragement become their light.

This is very helpful to have to learn more about Life and helpful things to make life easier along the way. We pray daily for guidance and directions. Thank you ??

Every voice is unique. Every singer is an individual. The basic foundation of learning techniques can be applied to the demands of various learning also called pedagogy styles or methods. What works for one student does not always work for another one. My focus is on what makes their learning experience unique and how they can enhance their self-expression.

Often times in my 25 year and still counting career, students have commented that “I am real” with them, which translates to truthful and honest. If I know something, I share my knowledge. If I don’t, I admit it and look at it as an opportunity to exhibit learning in progress. Be the best example of what I want emulated in my classroom- active learning.

Be creative in how to enhance the learning experience for both students and teachers. As a supervisor, for the first professional development day that I ran, I took all of my teachers on a field trip to an area museum. I gave the teachers three hours to simply explore the museum so that they could both learn and interact with each other. In the classroom, find guest speakers and find groups that will host field trips. It is amazing how many people want to help students and share their experiences.

The great thing about being an educator is being granted literally the opportunity to try something new on a daily basis. Not many other careers offer that same freedom and independence. Don’t be afraid to try something and have it fail. You are teaching your students that it is OK to take a chance on themselves. All of which leads to further growth and learning.

I work in a K-6 school system with STEM Designation. Our favorite thing to tell people new to the district that the kids in these classrooms will have jobs someday that don’t even exist- how do we change how we teach them?

I apply a teaching "golden rule" to my perspective. I teach how I would've wanted to be taught. More hands on? Done. Extra time with fun projects that have a stronghold on students? Absolutely. Skip the fluff and find more topics that students want to learn that can still meet the learning criteria? As much as possible.

Communication is the key to success. I have worked with many strong team members. By keeping each other informed and helping each other along the way. This is strong communication.

I apply communication in multiple forms: regular updates during sessions verbally and also in online form (emails and in Canvas) so they can be readily accessed. Modules have headers of instructions and reminders and they also have updates in the assignments. Not only does it aid students that forget easily or find themselves in waves of doubt, it can save me time answering the same questions over and over again. In addition, it provides supporting evidence for an educator in meeting administration standards.

Resilience and grit are two necessary factors to be a successful educator. See things through to the end. Make adjustments where necessary. Admit mistakes. Learn from them. Always move forward in a positive direction with the willingness to change and grow as the role of an educator and the information available in education constantly changes.

Education in the role of technology are constantly growing and changing. You’re willingness to be flexible only enhances your ability to be more successful in the education field. Learn and grow with your students. Take chances on trying new ideas and concepts. Ask your students what they like and what they dislike about implementing new technology. They will guide you as you grow together.

In times of need, many teachers find themselves thrown into positions that have little to no resources or support. To automatically assume you will do everything perfectly alone will lead so many into overload and frustration. Seeking out other professionals that experience those courses or activities will bring you support and confidence to continue on. With social media, you can find your own support system to give you all the tools for success. Just be sure to pass it on.

Remember that there are many different ways to prove impact. Test scores are one way, but they are not always the best. When I taught AP classes, some of my biggest successes were with students who earned a 2 or a 3, and it was not my 4 and 5s. This was because the 2 and 3s challenged themselves by taking a higher-level class. I think impact can also be measured when a student recalls a lesson from your class. This is not something that measurable, but certainly shows impact.

That all sounds good but unless you are able to help the Title-One schools, curriculums are always going to be bias towards what works. I am not in position to change anything but technology has hampered our students. Students are unable to stay engaged and are less interested in what makes a difference for them. I don't know about AP classes but if rules are not set for our students how can we set expectations. You better make sure classroom management is in your foundation. Coach Clark,

Something I’ve received positive feedback for from interviews is something that seems counter-intuitive: making sure it’s not ‘all about you’. Obviously you’re there to sell yourself, but an effective educator and leader does that by talking about impact on students and the wider team. Reframe your answers to ensure that they are student and team centered, not ‘self’ centered.

Classroom management and relationship building are two critical components to healthy, meaningful, and engaged learning experiences for students. Relationship building is so important because students who feel valued, accepted, and respected tend to work hard and generally enjoy their learning experience. Classroom management is also important because children need structure, guidance, boundaries, and an environment they can thrive in and feel secure in. They need to know what’s expected of them and what is acceptable behavior while at school. Any educator who makes these 2 components a priority in their class will reach more students. These two components are important in leadership as well. School management and relationship building!!!

When I would interview someone for a vacancy I was paying attention to not only what they were saying but their nonverbal communication as well. Seem like you’re in a hurry or really focusing on the discussion? Did you bring something with you to share like a portfolio? That was a big plus. One of my favorite interviews was for a fifth grade position. When asked about collaboration and relationship building, she said all the right things. And her tone of voice and facial expressions conveyed the message “this is the whole reason we’re here. Isn’t that obvious?” I loved it. It demonstrated to me that she really understood what it meant to be a teacher dedicated to her students.
