Esta falacia habitualmente surge cuando se carece de otro tipo de argumentación (lógica) constructiva o bien se utiliza como estrategia retórica. En estos casos, el centro de atención debe estar puesta en el tema a resolver y establecer límites claros. Para ello también es necesario conocer las intenciones, en general ocultas, que quieren satisfacer las partes implicadas más allá del tema en cuestión. I am not entirely sure you can “avoid” hearing false dilemmas by your clients. What we need is a skill set to listen for them along with a strategy on how to handle it. One idea is to borrow the rule of “yes, and…” from the world of improvisation. Role play with your client and present several scenarios that are different then their false dilemma’s where they are not allowed to say “no” but only a “yes” first then add to the scenario or scene being played out. Is this a different approach? Sure, but every good leader has to keep an open mind and a well timed role play could very well do the trick.

Consider all possibilities then plan to prevent the worst case scenario while plotting to grow into the best plan possible. A good business consultant while help ask the right questions and provide guidance to consider steps beyond those you are aware of. Perspective matters and changing mindsets is key to long-term success.

Understanding where unexpected vibrations(business concerns) are coming from and digging further there is valuable. Teaching a client to do some root cause analysis helps them solve future dilemmas more effectively. It's also important to ensure they learn this early.
