Here's how you can foster a mindset of innovation and overcome resistance to change as a team manager.

Embrace change as an opportunity and normalize it to create a positive outlook within your team. Lead by example by showing enthusiasm for new ideas and being open to risks. Encourage collaboration to leverage diverse viewpoints and foster creative problem-solving. Provide resources such as tools, training, and time for innovation projects. Promote continuous learning to drive growth and new ideas. Celebrate successes to reinforce the value of innovation and build momentum for future changes.

Según mi experiencia, la organización que quiera implementar alguna innovación debe considerar que esta misma debe ser coherente con los objetivos de negocio y condiciones fundamentales de la organización, para dar un sentido de coherencia interna y sentido de comunidad (no populista), caso contrario, esta innovación se transforma en un facilitador de dudas e incertidumbre; coherencia interna en la innovación. Es un buen inicio.

It's a human tendency to grasp and believe more in actions and examples. Hence, in order to make a difference, make sure you set yourself as a role model for the team. Express your excitement for new ideas, projects, hold meetings with enthusiasm, encourage open dialouges and guide the team in the right direction. Make sure to help your team understand that failures can come up anytime but wise decisions and crisis management takes us a long way. Understand their perspectives by keeping yourself in their shoes and thereby, build a bond of trust and confidence with them.

Leading by example with innovation in mind means for me in particular the following two things: Model Behavior: Demonstrate a willingness to embrace change and take calculated risks yourself. Your attitude towards innovation and change sets the tone for your team. Celebrate Failures: Treat failures as learning opportunities. Celebrate the effort and lessons learned from innovative attempts, regardless of the outcome.

Collaboration are great ways to enhance the skills and abilities of both the teams and come up with innovative solutions and outcomes. Hence, firstly encourage your team for a great collaboration and explain to them its benefits on their own career as well. Foster collaborations with different teams and motivate them to have open dialouges, discuss ideas aloud and have powerful brainstorming sessions. Acknowledge each team member's efforts and give them necessary feedback wherever and whenever its needed. This collaboration increases their confidence and creativity ane gives the teams a fresh perspectives to work with :)

You need to encourage creative thinking via providing time and space for Idea Generation and Innovation Time. Idea Generation: Create a safe space where team members feel comfortable sharing their ideas, no matter how unconventional. Hold regular brainstorming sessions to encourage creative thinking. Innovation Time: Allocate specific times for team members to work on innovative projects or explore new ideas, similar to Google’s 20% time policy.
