Here's how you can explore career opportunities after finishing an internship in sustainable design.

Sustainable design has several possible applications. That's why I believe that having a network of contacts is essential so that, when you leave your internship, you can identify opportunities for work. Also, through these contacts you can access and find out about different events. In my case, this is how I was able to identify where my work as a designer could fit into the world of sustainability.

Learn to develop a lot of acquaintances along the way. By doing so, you're also able to develop friendships that can lead to a permanent role. Even if that doesn't work out perfectly as far as a permanent work experience, at least you'll have a friend to call on for advice. Sustainable living and sustainable design are really "two peas in a pod." By learning to live in the moment you create a sustainable life and that style of living can also help you find that sustainable design path in the working world. I would suggest a healthy lifestyle would be the most sustainable way to live, much like healthy work relationships can help you transition from an internship into a more permanent role. Keep making new friends & being available for more.

Networking is indeed the most powerful way to stay connected with people who are sharing similar areas of interest in career. Being connected with peers will help anyone stay updated on the newer developments in the related field.

In order to create a portfolio that is worthy of sustainable practice, You must understand that your own life needs to be its own path of sustainable living. By living a certain way you're open to new paths that you would not have imagined previously. Internships can become an important tool to develop a resume that will attract the right people into your life. That's the type of work that you need to focus on, a sustained practice of your craft. And, as you might imagine, sustainable design is an all-encompassing endeavor. Show how your skill is worthy of sustained effort to get to know you on prospective employers. And keep plugging away because if at first you don't succeed you must try, try again. Life is never on a straight trajectory.

Me resulta útil leer artículos científicos con las investigaciones más relevantes, buscar nuevos desafíos relativos a tecnología como programación, machine learning e inteligencia artificial, robótica entre otros, buscando ampliar con estas herramientas mis posibilidades de crear nuevas soluciones basadas en la naturaleza.

Early career professionals interested in building a career in sustainability will benefit a lot by upskilling themselves in multiple areas of sustainability. These include sustainable building design, energy modelling, life cycle assessments, local regulations, green building rating systems and many more. As overwhelming as it is, considering the plethora of options out there, this is an important part of their career where they can get a taste of multiple career options before deciding to pursue the one they are passionate about.

In my own career I didn't take every single role that has had an exact "fit" in my future success. That doesn't mean that I didn't think that they would be an valuable fit at the time. It just meant that I knew that they were not exactly the perfect fit for the time being. So do not be discouraged if the "perfect role" is not the first job, or even the second or third job. Maybe not the 9th one, even. Determination, persistence, and grit are just as valuable as skill, oftentimes. Be open to new roles in both a voluntary role and charitable capacity, many times those realtionships being honed in can lead to new permanent positions. That's why a lot of friendships are important to one's career path, both for sustainable design or other roles.
