Volunteer leadership roles provide the opportunity to demonstrate leadership ability and magnify networking opportunities. Again, for those of us in the SAP community, this is the time for me to mention the Americas' SAP User Group - ASUG. I joined the Carolinas chapter leadership team in 2009 and continue to serve in that role today. As the Carolinas chapter chair, I've improved my skills in presenting to an audience and learned the importance of balancing the needs of various stakeholders when working with the rest of our chapter team to plan our chapter events. This has been by far the most important professional development activity of my career.
