My favorite ice breaker when facilitating a leadership team meeting is, “Share an experience in your childhood — positive or negative— that left an impression on you that may have altered the course of your life.” I’ve experienced transformations take place between individuals who have worked side-by-side for years without knowing the life journey of the person working beside them.

The best way to build trust is to is educate your team and empower them. Best practice is always to start meetings and one on one where the employees concerns and questions come first. You build rapport and learn about their family, their goals and their inspirations

The key to communication is small short and to the point. Keep, It, Simple, Stupid. Best communication tool is listening. Then being able to communicate with the person that you are listening and are interested. Once they get to feel heard they will be much willing to also be a good listener.
