What worked for me was that we divided the team into smaller teams. Two man teams and switched every two weeks, allowing everyone to work with each other. Members learned strengths and weakness of each a built upon them. Communication increased expeditiously within the whole team due to the engagement and time everyone had to spend with each other. They had the time to actually get to know one another and seeing each other as people increased productivity.

In addition I would also try to segment your network in the event of an attack you can reprioritize and isolate segments in the event of an attack to minimize the impact to your organization.
