In a professional set up taking ownership and responsibility of the task assigned to you is one of the basic trait. Now we have tools as well: JIRA, workfront, etc to keep track tasks, deadlines. Some of the ways to get started: 1. Sending out daily/weekly reports. If not making a daily/weekly task completion status and communicating it to team/higher ups when needed. 2. Estimate task duration - if there is any deviation report it to team or respective business group. Being transparent. 3. Taking ownership of the assigned task. Making checklists - following it for every release. Automating smoke tests to ensure basic functionalities are working for every release. 4. Writing test cases for each of the requirement.
