Working with people on life and mental health barriers, scaffolding was always a positive. I always explain goals as a process, not an outcome; the real outcome and success in the goal is the collective whole. I think it's easy for us to see A + B = X and get lost in that ideal versus the process; it's very self-defeating. Breaking the goal down into sections allows a person space to grow and strengthen mentally into the overall goal and build to that confidence, succeeding in the long term goal by becoming successful with the short term growth that made it possible. Seeing a person become successful is the goal versus completing an overall statement of desire or need.
