Vision and passion for the vision are important for creating a culture. Leaders need to communicate vision effectively and allow the knowledge and experience accumulated from the past to create & integrate the standard operating procedure and operations Manuel to flow knowledge the conveyer belt of a well oiled machine. Imagination, vision, creativity and clarity , focus on the bigger picture and trends and this is the roadmap for the team to carry out. Accountability of the industry has been lost. I would bring back old school principals. Hospitality no longer bears the burden of the Customer is Right. The loyalty consumer now is pushed to the back burner and their needs are also pushed aside.

Empathy is a gift God bestowed upon the special people on earth to fulfill his mission. Empathy is bitter sweet because we can sense how someone is feeling, and empaths can feel how another person is feeling. This may sound amazing, but the untrained mind will allow themselves to feel things that do not serve them well. Is it prudent to have empathy for someone who is apathetic? In a more simplistic form, empathy may be understanding where the person is coming from and truly making the person feel that we know how they are feeling, and here for them because that's is what Teammates and families do. One persons perceived reality affects the whole, we all must row in the same direction by listening, and creating a Welcome culture.

Listen and validate emotions. When staff or guests express concerns, acknowledge their feelings before offering solutions. For example, say, "I understand this is frustrating" or "It's understandable to feel that way." This shows you care and are truly listening.

In my experience empathy is crucial in hospitality leadership—it fosters trust and loyalty among both guests and team members. Extending empathy to mental health is equally vital. By actively listening, understanding individual needs, and promoting a supportive culture, leaders can reduce stigma and enhance well-being. This approach not only improves workplace morale but also elevates service quality, creating a positive environment where everyone can thrive.

From my perspective, decisiveness in hospitality is not just about speed but also about clarity and confidence. When a leader acts decisively, it sets a tone of assurance and reliability, which is critical in maintaining high service standards. By making informed decisions swiftly, you can turn potential disruptions into opportunities for excellence, ensuring guests feel valued and staff remain motivated. Remember, every decision shapes the guest experience and the team dynamic, so approach each challenge with a clear mind and a confident heart.

Be decisive AND transparent. Explain the reasoning behind your decisions, especially if they involve significant changes. This helps your team understand the "why" and can make them more receptive to the decision.

Delegate tasks and authority. Allow team members to make decisions within their areas of expertise. This shows trust and empowers them to take ownership of their roles, leading to increased engagement and innovation.

Continuous learning helps everyone succeed. The company will do better keeping everything running at its best with the most knowledgeable people in their field. Also it helps the employee feel valued and more likely not to seek other employment.

Create a code of ethics and display it prominently. This should outline the values and principles that guide your business practices. It serves as a constant reminder to both staff and guests of your commitment to integrity and fair treatment.

Encourage a culture of feedback. Regularly solicit feedback from both staff and guests, and use it to make informed decisions and improvements. This shows that you value their opinions and are committed to providing the best possible experience. Invest in your team's well-being. Provide opportunities for stress relief, such as yoga classes or team-building exercises.
