I like to build a plan with the team, that we all own and feel accountable to deliver. We collaborate to achieve the important aspects whilst prioritising the urgent elements that have pressing timelines. The Pareto 80 20 rule invariably applies; it’s about finding that 20% of tasks that deliver 80% of the outcomes, ensuring tasks get finished, and the benefits get banked. We all have an individual work : life balance and try to avoid having the same team members being repeatedly overloaded. Above all stay positive, do your best, and think short medium and long term.

In my experience, mastering the art of delegation is as important as mastering prioritization. Even having the better identification of goals, breakdown of the tasks you need to do and perfectly planned prioritization, you might not be able to take on all by yourself. Firstly, because perhaps you shouldn't. There are tasks that could better be done by someone else on the team, because of their expertise or availability. If that's the case, delegate them! Also, you might not have the time to take on some tasks because of other responsibilities. If someone else on the team has what it's needed to step up, delegate them! Delegating is not surrendering responsibility, it's just wisely distributing execution to ensuring delivery.

Visible Tasks, Habit & Consistency: To efficiently manage tasks, you must have them at visible sight. Remember, you don’t always need a Kanban Board. Take a tour of your tasks before you close your day, let your subconscious do the rest. Make it a habit so that you can do this effortlessly and keep it consistent. To make efficient use of time, keep 15-20 mins dedicated blocker for focus tasks. Don’t forget to pat your back when you did well at the end of the day.
