I'd like to add that it's often very simple to make dates for the conference in advance - I write to participants I want to meet here on LinkedIn and then we agree to meet for coffee, lunch, or a walk. If they are famous and thus busy, only ask for a few minutes, if both are you are equally interested in the exchange, make it longer. But since everyone wants to meet a lot of people, not longer than 30minutes!

After a session that you really enjoyed or gained insight from, stick around at the end. Introduce yourself to the presenter or speaker, if possible. Mention specific points that resonated with you and how you plan to use or build on them. End with a simple thank you. You'd be surprised at how few people stay back to say these simple words.
