I firmly believe that without a solid understanding of the technical aspects of photography, it is impossible to clearly define your goals. Each photographic genre requires a specific and unique technical approach. However, knowing only the basic rules of photography is not enough. The most crucial element is the ability to read the light. Only through this skill can you identify your goals and develop a personal style. In my artistic journey, I have specialized in portraits and street photography, strictly preferring black and white with pronounced contrasts. To define my style, I first had to master the technical aspects and then learn to effectively read the light. Only in this way was I able to best express my artistic vision.

After years of experience, I realized that developing my style doesn't require a lot of accessories. Personally, I own only two cameras, one of which shoots exclusively in black and white, and two lenses: a 35 mm and a 50 mm. Additionally, I have two battery-powered lights that I use to manage artificial lighting, even in outdoor environments, as I always prefer to have full control of the light. Of course, a solid tripod is an essential part of my kit. Over time, I've understood that it's better to have a few pieces of high-quality equipment rather than many accessories that often go unused. This approach has allowed me to focus on technique and creativity rather than being distracted by an excess of gear.

File names should be short and easy to understand. Personally, I usually keep the original file names. I download the images to an external hard drive to avoid using up space on the main drive. Within the hard drive, I create a main folder named after the event and the date, and inside it, I organize two subfolders: one for raw files and one for jpg files, as I shoot in both formats. An essential practice for me is to create a thumbnail for the main folder, so I can immediately identify its content without even reading the folder name.

For my editing, I select the files directly from the external hard drive. I catalog the images I find interesting and proceed with the development process. I no longer use raw converters like Lightroom or Capture One, as my creative development takes place entirely in Photoshop. I open the files in Camera Raw to balance the images and then export them to Photoshop to fully unleash my artistic vision.

I have nothing more to add at this point. All my files, both original and edited, are stored in duplicate on two different hard drives. I firmly believe that prevention is better than cure, so I always prefer to have a backup to ensure the safety and integrity of my work.
