Listening actively without any judgement is the first step to understand the problem. Ask right question for more clarity. It increases the confidence and trust among the team, less hesitation and up-frontly discuss critical issues without any fear. Keep patience to understand in depth. Respond with intention to solve the problem. It is the choice of the person to respond situation which is in between stimulus and action. It is recommended to become cool, calm and understand properly before responding or taking any action. You may practice pause for few seconds before responding which is great tool to handle critical situations.

The scenario described in this example is the typical corporate vs. individual situation when the surroundings say everything about how inside-the-box thinking we are required to perform. A calm reflection requires a calm analysis of the situation and the things said, but action will not happen as described. The individual needs AT LEAST as much time to reflect as the superior had to put together the evaluation - this is to give the impression that we are not in a dictatorship where the individual needs to do absolutely everything the corporation requires without even thinking.

Here are some lessons that are beneficial to adopt during the manufacturing performance evaluation. 1. Have a pen/pencil and your own notebook 2. Make notes of all points provided. (Writing keeps objectivity) 3. Do not interrupt the train of thoughts 4. Clarify the points, in case you don't understand the context or the statements 5. Reconfirm the expectations (Paraphrase) 6. Seek time for discussion on your pathway/plan to alter and shift patterns - your goals for improvement after deciphering elements under your control. CRUCIAL POINTS: (a) Keeping feelings/emotions under control. (b) Do not justify (c) Learn the technique of introspection/reflection (d) Do not blame anyone/anything (e) Thank the person for the feedback
