1 Be Specific

When giving feedback, specificity can be the difference between helpful guidance and vague commentary. Instead of saying something generic like "I don't like this," pinpoint the exact elements that you believe could be improved. For example, you might suggest, "The user flow on screen three could be streamlined to reduce the number of steps a user must take." This level of detail provides clear direction and makes it easier for your colleague to understand and act on your feedback.

May not always be a good thing. I prefer to be a bit more general with feedback as most of the time i'm looking at the macro level. And I don't want to come off as a micro-manager. In my perspective, the broad strokes in the right direction would generally suffice.

A review in the "I don't like it" style is generally unacceptable for an experienced designer, especially for a team lead. Feedback should not only be constructive. You must also explain why something needs to be changed and what impact/improvement it will lead to. Otherwise, your team members cannot draw conclusions and learn lessons.

2 Stay Positive

Feedback should be a balance of positive reinforcement and constructive criticism. Starting with what you like about the design acknowledges the effort put into the project and sets a collaborative tone. For instance, you could say, "The color scheme is very engaging and aligns well with our brand, however, the font size might be too small for easy readability." By framing your feedback positively, you encourage a more receptive and less defensive response.

Suggesting solutions can be a good thing and a bad thing. You want to encourage reflection and allow your colleagues to find their own thought process/mindset-shift. But at the same time, you don't want them to waste time if you know what should be done. But criticising without providing constructive solutions can also have you come off as a bit of an fool, don't do that.

4 Be Timely

Timing is everything when it comes to feedback. Offer your insights soon after you've identified an issue, as waiting too long can make it more difficult to implement changes. Immediate feedback is especially critical during rapid prototyping phases when designs are evolving quickly. "I noticed the prototype's response time is slow; perhaps we could optimize the image assets now rather than later?" This approach helps prevent small issues from becoming bigger problems down the line.

Ultimately, it's a human relationship. Respect it as such. It's not about you "winning" and making them feel small (if this is your objective, you need to reflect on your life). It's about the best product, best user experience and what works. You don't have to be "brutally honest" at the expense of hurt feelings. There is a better way to communicate your criticism, you just have to think about it. Take into consideration the culture and relationships of the place too. If your colleagues can receive feedback in a direct manner without hurt feelings, then by all means.
