Here's how you can effectively convey your vision to your team.

Vision is always aligned with the goal of Project/Program/Portfolio of Business Units which in turns align with the goal of the organization. Each and every member of the organization is responsible to achieve that goal and make the vision a reality. As leaders, we are responsible to share that vision with our people and make them understand what is it and how are we going to achieve it. It should be crystal clear to everyone and then people will align and work together to make that vision reality.

Effectively conveying your vision to the team in Telecoms involves clarity, inspiration, and engagement. Start by articulating the vision in clear and compelling terms, linking it to the team's purpose and goals. Use storytelling and visual aids to make the vision tangible and memorable. Encourage two-way communication, inviting team members to share their perspectives and insights. Lead by example, embodying the values and behaviors associated with the vision. Provide regular updates and progress reports to reinforce alignment and celebrate milestones. Finally, empower the team to contribute to the realization of the vision, fostering ownership and commitment.

. I should consider whether my team member joined before me or after me. Those who joined the before me might carry organizational or program memory. However, even if they joined before me, they might not have a clear concept of the vision. For those who join after me, my first target is to aware them of the vision during the job interview. This is the beginning but not the final. Most of the first communication does not work better. For a better understanding of my vision, I may organize a participatory/interactive discussion session or workshop with my team. An action plan for each person may be the outcome of the workshop. Time to time, I will check whether they own the vision and act to implement the plan sincerely.

It’s important to engage emotionally with your team when trying to relay the vision. This also goes back to treating people like people and not just object to complete the mission. If done properly the mission will take care of its self.

In my experience, I have observed, emotionally charged leaders influencing the most - be it a team or a mass. The magical connect that an emotional appeal bring on to exist, can often seen as the most impactful and lasting.

When unpopular jobs need to be done developing a rota with the management on it too, helps. No one can turn down a task if management are seen to do the task too. I saw this in practice it worked well. This is clearly not always possible but a demonstration of commitment goes a long way.

Empowerment is one of my favorite ways to engage my team. It ties hand in glove with pride in ownership. By empowering your team to take ownership of their stake in the project you can almost guarantee a high level of engagement. Most people will rise to the challenge of being given ownership WHEN that ownership is acknowledged. Don't take credit for their work. When they have ownership, that ownership is acknowledged, you will see their pride in ownership emerge. Then it will become a self energizing cycle. Moderation is the key though. Don't overwork enthusiasm. Burnout can happen quickly.

Acknowledge their contributions: Publicly recognize their efforts and celebrate their achievements, especially ones that helped move the project closer to the vision. Provide growth opportunities: Link the project to a team member's development goals. Help them identify skills they can gain or experiences that will contribute to their career path. Invest in their potential: Offer opportunities for training or mentorship related to the project that enhance their skillset.

Allow team members to take charge of projects that contribute to the vision. Empower them by providing the resources and support needed, but also give them the autonomy to make decisions. This builds confidence and demonstrates trust, which are crucial for motivation and engagement.

Fairness is a must, management should not have favourites, or show favourtism this is more destructive than anything else I have seen.
