People could have various reasons for being journalists, from wanting to be an excellent writer to making it big in writing, being on camera, being a known face/voice that can influence people or creative satisfaction. All are fine. Yet, to find the answer, why do you want to work in journalism? You first need to determine your desire to make an impact, highlight issues for the public good, be the force of change, and understand that you see it not only as a power but also as a responsibility/ duty. Once this answer is clear inside you and you have identified the fire in your belly, go ahead and make it clear that you see yourself as part of a system where you are the fourth pillar for the overall development.
