I feel I've been writing a lot about the importance of communication and collaboration in my response to these conversations. It really is that important. The more you communicate what you're doing, why you're doing it and back that up with real-world examples (i.e. answer for people "What's in it for me?") the more support you will have. The more support you have the easier your job will be and the more successful your cybersecurity program will be. You want to instill good security practices in the corporate culture and communications is the root of doing that.

This approach not only validates our investments in cybersecurity but also underscores the strategic foresight needed to manage cyber risks effectively and protect our organisation's integrity.

Develop a return on investment based approach to cybersecurity such that IT and cybersecurity initiatives contribute to revenue generation and optimisation. IT leaders need to integrate business needs with technology needs, aligning not just their effective use, but how they contribute to the commercial success of the business. The hard-line truth is that the biggest job of an IT leader today is shifting a technology cost mindset among business executives into a capability and commercial strategic advantage. It's up to you, and you need to evolve to meet their challenge, not the other way around, education is great, but business leaders need a business case/threat/opportunity lens to apply investment decisions in cybersecurity.
