To me, a career is an expression of who you are in a professional setting. Setting career goals is essential for making a meaningful impact in your field, and the journey to achieving them is important. Having a mentor along the way can be immensely beneficial. They provide guidance through known challenges and help you reach your goals more quickly. If your mentor happens to be your boss, it’s even better. Since they have already walked the path you’re on, creating a career roadmap and discussing your goals under their guidance can be invaluable.

A career is a mutually beneficial partnership between you and you employer(s). You need to understand yourself and how you can forward the business and the field before communicating that to your employer. Their growth will be your growth.

Try to get absolute clarity about what you want today for your future career. Your objective may and most likely will change over time, yet it is crucial to have a clear direction at every point of time.

These steps will help you achieve your aspirations. A good supervisor almost always provides excellent guidance, offers assistance from their experience, and remembers the discussion during the next catch-up.
