Paying attention to your organization's direction in meetings is important too. Once you understand your organization, then research the roles that you are interested in. From there, you can match the responsibilities of those roles to your organization's expectations.

If you aren’t clear about your options or preferences but know you would like to advance your career, work with you manager to set up some projects or learning that will help you show your potential and expose you to new skill areas. 2. If you have some idea of roles you’d like to advance to, talk with your manager about how you can prepare for advancement in that direction. 3. If you’re clear on the roles or area you want to advance in, still seek your manager’s advice to keep them engaged in your growth.
