In my experience, I’ve as a leader since you are accountable for the growth of your team, you need to ask the right questions and be an active listener.

Know your company strategy. Learn about the industry. Meet new people to share ideas or generate possibilities. Bring outside-in ideas. Create environment to test ideas. Be ready to fail fast, learn and steer for success.

Provide opportunities for staff to lead on projects, ask for feedback from staff on all levels, provide guidance on how to improve performance on projects by asking questions, and getting them to make comprehensive 360 observations of the project.

Today's leaders need to not automatically rely on what has worked in the past. They first need to analyze the current strengths and weaknesses of the business/industry they work or would like to work. Identify leaders who are succeeding and seek their insights, seek information from all levels of employees to incorporate their ideas. Attend national conferences to expose yourself to the newest ideas according to experts. Encourage key employees to also attend industry events.

As a coach I realize that failure leads to growth. Athletes push their bodies to failure so that they grow stronger and faster. Applying the same principle in the workplace allows your staff to develop confidence. It also, creates an environment where staff feels comfortable taking calculated risks. It also allows the employee, as well as his/her colleagues, to grow as a result of witnessing their colleague taking risks leading to success for the team.

Failure is a bad word to describe failing - rather it should be reassessing with new information, skills and experience to progress towards success

One thing I have observed the leaders need to help teams build a mindset that frames failure as one step towards success with a self talk that says, 'this is one way that the goal cannot be achieved let's try another way'.However the challenge is to find situations where the team members can experiment in the safe environment. Very often than not the stakes are high and targets have timlines.This is the tightrope walk balancing the organisational goals that have timelines and giving a safe environment for its team to learn. Here is the true test of leadership !

Recognize and celebrate creative contributions and innovative solutions within the team. Embrace Change: Be open to new ideas and approaches and demonstrate flexibility in adapting to change. Seek Continuous Learning: Commit to lifelong learning and personal development, exploring new concepts and expanding your knowledge base. Empower and Inspire Others Empowerment: Delegate authority and empower team members to take ownership of their work and pursue creative solutions autonomously. Inspire Vision: Communicate a compelling vision that inspires and motivates others to think creatively and strive for excellence. Support: Offer support, encouragement, and resources to help team members unleash their creative potential.

This is such a critical point! Embracing failure as an integral part of the innovation process changes the entire team dynamic. In my experience, creating a "fail-forward" culture where mistakes are openly discussed and learned from, without fear of judgment, significantly boosts creativity and willingness to innovate. We've implemented regular "reflection sessions" where team members share their setbacks and takeaways. This practice not only demystifies failure but also empowers everyone to take bolder steps in their creative endeavors. It's through these candid exchanges that we've seen some of our most innovative solutions emerge.

A workspace where people are heard is essential for the well being of the team. Collaboration is the key to exponential growth. It leads to many new ideas and opportunities for open discussions and opportunities.

The issue with this statement is there are different interpretations of what collaboration actually is. Some think collaboration is sharing a finished artefact/product. That is too late. Collaboration is sharing throughout , checking it’s what others are expecting at every stage of the artefact/products creation from concept to final draft & will lead to stakeholders being engaged and having ownership in the final outcome. This is not about sharing everything but linking in, clarifying expectations & sharing prototypes regularly to ensure maximum value is created.

Old saying, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." And if you want to go fast and far, then, Fostering Collaboration with people would be needed. High performing teams, organizations, and business often counts having high level of Collaboration as their "secret sauce" for success. Collaboration is also a sign there is high level of trust and accountability within the team members. As a leader, Fostering Collaboration is a MUST, not an OPTION.

New ideas are the cornerstone of progress, and what make collaborative work interesting - even if new ideas don’t end up being put to practice, or end up failing in the long run, the repeated practice of allowing space for new changes, thinking outside of common tradition, and trying something new can be a catalyst for better ways of working, new energy among colleagues and an in-road for young or newer leaders to showcase their strengths.

I live by the principle that I will never ask my employees to do something I am not willing to do myself. In addition, being able to communicate to staff the benefits of new opportunities to their individual development and growth is key, rather than bemoaning the extra hours that may result from embracing the new challenge/opportunity.

Inspire and Motivate Others Demonstrate the behaviours and attitudes you expect from your team. Show enthusiasm, commitment, and passion for your work. Maintain a positive attitude and resilience, especially during challenging times. Acknowledge and reward innovative ideas and creative efforts. This can be through formal recognition programs or informal praise. Provide opportunities for team members to grow and develop their creative skills. Cultivate a habit of continuous learning. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and innovative practices. Encourage your team to pursue learning opportunities and provide resources for their professional development.

A leader has to walk the talk and always be open to learning new things. By involvement in innovative ideas and readiness to learn new skills, you can motivate the entire team to follow you. Also, let the team know that if you fail it is alright, but then try till you get it right. Without risks in new projects led by a different idea there would be little movement forward.

You cannot lead from behind. There is risk in leadership in that you are always in the spotlight. When you say yes to leadership, you say yes to being visible whether you like it or not. Great leaders understand the sacrifice that comes with stepping in front. Leadership is only leadership if there is followship. You want people to follow you because they want to not because they have to. One of the greatest sacrifices you will make as a leader is giving up what you want for the greater good. Leading by example requires 100% intentionality and 100% effort.

If we all understand why we are in our organisations, our vision becomes our daily reason to bring the curiosity and creativity everyday. It gives us a shared perspective and real ownership as a staff team. Then it is imperative we get to know why our pupils, our families, our community work with our team. That is true collaboration that drives forward our shared vision. Underpinning all of this is the relationships we foster and the focus on improvement we all want to see.

Um dos grandes erros que um líder comete é n?o perceber as falhas no processo de delega??o de autonomia. Falhas essas que fazem com que o líder assuma tudo para si, se sobrecarregue e fa?a com que o time se torne dependente e pouco colaborativo. Incentivar a autonomia da equipe é fazer com que as pessoas sejam criativas e que explorem as solu??es para os problemas, de forma a apresentá-las sem receio de serem considerados incompetentes.

Wenn Mitarbeitende mehr Autonomie erhalten, sind sie produktiver und effizienter. Im modernen Führungsverst?ndnis sollte eine Führungskraft aktiv die Autonomie der Mitarbeitenden f?rdern und ausbauen. So wird auch die Motivation gest?rkt. Die Mitarbeitenden haben in aller Regel ein tieferes Fachwissen in ihrem Fachgebiet und k?nnen oftmals die bestm?gliche Herangehensweise selbst w?hlen und absch?tzen. So erhalten Führungskr?fte gleichzeitig mehr Freiraum für andere T?tigkeiten, wie die Beziehungsarbeit zu ihren Mitarbeitenden.

One thing I've found helpful is to be able to flip our mindset within seconds with mindfulness and growth mindset! In an example at work. Project went out a bit off the route that I've planned. 1st thing I did was to ask myself, "Hey Amye! What you felt could be better and how would you do it next time?" Did you observe that the reflection started within me and not analyzing what others have done? Self analysis is to make us a more mindful person and not for us to put the blame on ourselves and go into analysis paralysis. Did I have the thought on blaming others or even myself? As a 100% human, of course! But did I dwell long on it? Yes, 2 seconds long! Why? Because I've trained my mind to be at such mode whenever I face similar situation!

Keep a positive spin on everything you are able to. Instead of saying “don’t mess up” say “you can do this”! Don’t add extra negative thoughts on top of a challenge!
