It's important to lead with the fact you want the team member to achieve what they are capable of, and your intent is to help them tune their approach to minimize pushback. Think of it like a sales call where what you are selling is the achievement of their aspirations and start with the positive - your desire for them to succeed.

To deliver effective constructive feedback, maintain a positive tone, emphasizing growth opportunities, and offer specific, behavior-focused input. Ensure timely, private discussions and utilize the "sandwich" approach, interweaving criticism with positive remarks. Actively listen to the team member's perspective and collaborate on setting goals and action plans for improvement. This approach fosters a supportive environment for continuous learning and development within the team.

Rather than just giving feedback on the occasional "event", build regular and consistent feedback into your interactions with your team -- both constructive and reinforcing/positive. They shutdown their receptors and start thinking about how to counter this attack instead of openly listening to the feedback Instead say The other day, you were late to the meeting which impacted the outcome of the meeting as we could not make that crucial decision for the lack of time. A similar thing happened 2 days back as well. Being specific and incident oriented helps focus on issue and not on the person - hence helps find solutions
