After 30+ years in organizational development, I'm still surprised by how often I encounter organizations who give new employees vague, vague, inaccurate, or incomplete job descriptions. I believe one step towards clearly defining roles is to make sure an accurate job description is given to not just new, but to all employees. Going a step further, it would also be helpful if everyone could review the job descriptions for each member on a team. This will help each team member to know what every other team is responsible for and what they are not responsible for.
