Here's how you can cultivate a growth mindset with executive coaching for career success.

Leaders might always say they are learning and growing while in fact at some career maturity point, they might feel that they are more in charge of passing and cascading their experience and knowledge to the team members than basking in more experience. Here is what happens, yes indeed growth opportunities won't be as frequent as a newbie, yet it can be exponential with one single instance.

A growth mindset isn't just a positive attitude; it's a fundamental belief in the ability to develop skills and intelligence through effort, learning, and perseverance. This mindset goes beyond simply staying optimistic—it involves embracing challenges, learning from feedback, and persisting in the face of setbacks. A growth mindset is a powerful approach to life and work that goes beyond simply maintaining a positive attitude. It involves a deep-seated belief in the potential for development and improvement through effort, learning, and perseverance. By adopting a growth mindset, individuals can unlock their full potential, overcome challenges, and achieve greater success in all areas of life.

In my view, embracing a growth mindset involves recognizing that life is not happening to you but for you. By shifting from a victim mentality to that of a master creator, you take charge of your reality, understanding that your thoughts shape your experiences. Unlike other species, humans possess the unique ability to manifest through free will, which is always active. It’s crucial to use this power wisely, knowing that perfection is unattainable and that curiosity should guide your efforts. Remember, failure is merely a myth on the path to growth and learning.

Growth needs to be planned just like any other goal or KPI. Growth needs also to remain in synch with values and Life purpose and this is one of the main duties of a coach which is indeed ensure goals pertaining to growth aren't shelved or dimmed in order o prioritize more measurable outcomes. The coach will structure together with the coachee the growth journey with mini goals and dates and times associated to them.

In my coaching approach for women in leadership, I start by addressing societal expectations that impact goal-setting. I emphasize the importance of goal persistence, recognizing the determination women exhibit despite perceived barriers. Encouraging calculated risk-taking is key, as women may be more cautious compared to their male counterparts. I align goal-setting strategies with intrinsic motivations such as personal growth and collaboration, and support the setting of collaborative, relationship-oriented goals. This approach helps women set and achieve ambitious goals while fostering a supportive and growth-oriented environment.

I encourage my clients, when faced with a significant project setback, to consider viewing it as an opportunity for growth. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, need to approach the challenge with curiosity. Ask insightful questions to understand the root causes and explore innovative solutions. This perspective shift will not only help you address the current issue effectively but also expand your leadership skills and adaptability for future challenges. Embracing challenges proactively and with resilience will significantly enhance your overall effectiveness and growth.

Failure is very much stigmatized amongst high achievers and Executives. There are two main reasons around this stigma. 1- They confuse a Failure with themselves being the Failure 2- They find failing embarrassing to share amongst Team members as they are always expected to be the infallible business saviors. Support them in building resilience by framing setbacks as chances to learn and grow, and help them adapt to change with a positive outlook. Celebrate their progress and achievements to reinforce the benefits of continuous learning. Finally, help them build a network of peers and mentors for additional support and inspiration on their journey.

It will not only prompt staff members to consider new avenues for growth but will stimulate communication among colleagues, build new relationships and offer the opportunity to enhance presentation skills. Maybe invite a public speaking professional to form part of the panel of judges. Your staff will feel appreciated, valued and respected - plus gaining new speaking techniques!
