Positive self-talk is not a commonly understood concept so you might want to understand it better by reading a book or watching a video. In short, make sure you are not using any negative words for yourself like "am not", "can't", etc. You can always do it, whatever it may be! I have been very aware of my self-talk for a year or two now and I see tremendous differences in my identity and thinking as compared to earlier. Honestly, it takes some gut to hear criticism of work. It might be hard in the start but just swallow that pill and hear out what your well-wishers have to say. It's a process for you to keep improving where you aren't doing well. Ask them how would you do this certain task if you were in my shoes and trust me you will get some good help.
